Successful wedding flowers complement the setting.

Your Wedding Flower Guide
If you’re reading this, there’s a good chance you’re somewhere in the middle of planning your wedding.
Maybe you’ve already chosen your venue and dress.
Maybe you’ve saved hundreds of images to Pinterest.
Or maybe you’re just beginning and wondering where to start.
Wherever you are in the process, I hope this guide helps.
Over the years I've worked with thousands of couples.
One thing I've learned is that there's no single correct way to choose your wedding flowers.
Every wedding is different.
Every couple is different.
And the flowers should reflect that.
Many brides come to us thinking they need to choose specific flowers.
I ask them to start somewhere else.
I ask them how they want their wedding day to feel.
Elegant and timeless?
Relaxed and natural?
Romantic and overflowing with flowers?
Contemporary and understated?
Once we're on the same page, the flowers are much easier to choose.
Hopefully this guide will answer some of your questions.
I want you to approach your wedding flowers with confidence.
Where Should You Start?
The first thing I tell most couples is "don't worry too much about flower varieties".
Flowers are important, but they are only one part of the overall picture.
Venue, season, colours and atmosphere you want are the most more important.
More than if a bouquet contains roses, orchids or peonies.
Think about your wedding as a whole.
Imagine your guests arriving.
What do you want them to experience?
Do you want them to feel welcomed into a beautiful garden celebration?
Do you want them to walk into a room that feels elegant and sophisticated?
Do you want something modern, relaxed or luxurious?
Once you can answer those questions, floral direction becomes clearer.

"Exceptional flowers, meticulous attention to detail and calm professional guidance."
"Susan and her team have created memorable weddings, events and celebrations for generations of clients."
What Flowers Do You Really Need?
Your bouquet is the centrepiece and most personal part of tentire day.
It's one of the details most remembered in your wedding photographs.
Flowers make their first impression here.
We often re-purpose these and relocate them to the reception.
Reception flowers create the atmosphere your guests will remember.
The best reception flowers don't need to be the largest.
They're the flowers which feel right for the space and your guests.

Enjoy your day
Couples tell us how reassuring Susan is.
"She took care of all the details and I just enjoyed my day." HF
"The most glorious arrangements. Susan Avery’s flowers are sublime. Always have been. Thank you for your continued brilliance." NG
When Should You Book Your Wedding Florist?
The simple answer is as soon as you have confirmed your venue and wedding date.
Popular wedding dates can book well in advance, particularly during spring and autumn.
Ideally, I encourage couples to begin conversations six to twelve months before the wedding.
That doesn’t mean every detail needs to be decided immediately.
In fact, some of the best ideas develop gradually as the wedding plans come together.
Early planning simply gives you the time and flexibility to make thoughtful decisions.
And thoughtful decisions almost always lead to better outcomes.

Relax
From bouquets and ceremony flowers to reception and large installations, we carefully co-ordinate everything. All professionally installed by our team. We work quietly behind the scenes and make sure every detail is in place. Your day will unfold beautifully and seamlessly.

Ideally six to twelve months before your wedding.
This is especially important if you're marrying during spring, summer and autumn when popular dates book quickly.
What are the best flowers for weddings?
The best flowers are those that suit your season, venue, colour palette and personal style.
Seasonal flowers often provide the most beautiful and natural results.
Can wedding flowers be customised?
Absolutely. Every wedding we create is designed specifically for the couple, the venue and the occasion.
Do you deliver wedding flowers across Sydney?
Yes. We regularly install weddings across Sydney, including the Eastern Suburbs, CBD, North Shore and Inner West.

Floral Installations
Many contemporary weddings incorporate larger floral features.
These could be suspended installations, statement entrance arrangements, ceremony structures, floral ceilings and walls, or custom-designed event features.
We have broad experience here and can help with installation and design as both require careful planning and coordination.
How Much Should You Budget?
For most couples, this is the "nervous question".
My advice is always the same.
First, start with the experience you want. Then focus on individual flower prices.
INTIMATE WEDDINGS
Usually between $1,500 and $3,000.
These smaller celebrations focus on personal flowers.
They usually only need a few feature arrangements.
CLASSIC WEDDINGS
Usually between $3,000 and $7,000.
This budget covers bouquets, ceremony flowers and a professionally styled reception.
PREMIUM WEDDINGS
Usually between $7,000 and $15,000 and upwards.
These weddings include larger installations, multiple locations and significant floral features.
Remember though, the most successful weddings aren't always the ones with the largest budgets.
The best weddings feature floral decisions supporting the overall vision for the day.
Wedding Flowers For Sydney Venues
Over the years we've created wedding flowers for some of Sydney’s most beautiful venues.
From intimate private residences and garden weddings through to luxury hotels, waterfront venues and grand reception spaces.
Every venue presents different opportunities.
A ceremony overlooking Sydney Harbour requires a different approach to a heritage ballroom.
We decorate garden weddings differently to contemporary reception spaces.
One of the most important parts of wedding flower design is knowing and understanding how our flowers will interact with the architecture, lighting and the venue's.
The most successful wedding flowers will complement the setting rather than competing with it.
